Role of Ether Soluble Organic Acids in the Cationanion Balance in Plants.

چکیده
Factors that influence salt absorption by plants have long been a subject of study. Only recently, however, (3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 16, 20, 23), have the effects of certain metabolic processes in the plant been recognized as intimately connected with salt absorption and accumulation. The present investigation has been concerned with the cation-anion balance in several species of crop plants with special reference to the role of ether soluble organic acids. Prior to the work of PUCHER, VICKERY, and WAKEMAN (13, 14, 15), on the quantitative determination of organic acids in plant material, lack of accurate methods had seriously curtailed investigation along these lines. A study has been made of the selective capacity of the various species with respect to inorganic ions; of the quantity and kinds of organic acids in the different species grown in similar culture medium; and of the correlation between inorganic cations and ether soluble organic acids in the different species as a group.

The aim of this study was to determine organic acids and individual sugars as well as carotenoids in fruit of Kumquat[Fortunella margarita (Lour.) Swingle] on different rootstocks. On other hand, the purpose of this study was to identify the rootstock that could produce the highest amount of sugars. The content of individual sugars and organic acids in fruits were determined by HPLC, ...

Ephedra intermedia is a dioecious plant of the Ephedraceae family whose male and female plants are quite similar in shape, but their biochemical differences are not known. The subject was the TLC and GC-MS study of fatty acids, phenols, essential oils, and alkaloids in male and female shoots of E. intermedia. Male and female shoots were collected from Markazi province in Iran, in spring. Alcoho...

متن کاملComparing Mineral and Chemical Compounds, in Vitro Gas Production and Fermentation Parameters of some Range Species in Torbat-e Jam, Iran
Plants growable in rangelands play an important role in the feeding of ruminants; hence, the nutritive value of four plants (Falcaria vulgaris, Malva neglecta, Chenopodium album, and Polygonum aviculare) was determined by different laboratory methods. The plant samples were randomly collected in vegetative phase from different rangelands of Torbat-e Jam, Iran in spring 2018. The range of dry ma...
